Op 25 juli 1909 was Louis Blériot de eerste mens in de geschiedenis die over het Kanaal wist te vliegen in een vliegtuig, zwaarder dan lucht, t.w. de Blériot XI. 
Nog steeds werkt deze vlucht inspirerend voor liefhebbers van oldtimers of van modelvliegtuigen en ontstaan er projecten rond dit vliegtuig of deze vlucht.
De geestelijke vader van de Nederlandse projecten is Henk van Hoorn uit Zwolle en op deze site kunt u hier van alles over lezen.

In 1909 on july the 25th Louis Blériot was the first man in history to cross the English Channel in a heavier-than-air aircraft, the Blériot XI.
Until today this feat has inspired oldtimer devotees and aeromodellers alike and several projects have been initiated around this airplane or this flight.
