Preface

As mentioned before, Louis Bleriot was the first man in history to fly across the English Channel. To present day standards it was only a short flight - longer flights had been made already - but the impact was enormous. England was no longer a true island. What was worse it took a Frenchman to point that out to them...
Nevertheless, they took it sportingly then and now, for the commemoration of this event was going to be celebrated in grand style both in France (Calais) ánd in England (Dover)

Henk van Hoorn recognised this fact in time and as far back as in 2006 he commenced the construction of his scale model.
That was the start of the Beriot Project, aiming at participating in the festivities in a proper way by flying the model across the Channel on July the 25th just like its original did in 1909.

The model team took form as follows: in 2008 Henk approached me on his search for assistance with the first test hops of the model, on which we have already reported in this website.
Tiemen ten Velde had already been involved in the building stage and Pim Ruyter, Henk's brother in arms from the Free Flight scene was another teammember.

Through this site we want to keep you informed on the planning and organisation ánd on the progress of the several projects
